The Interuniversity Institute for Local Development (IIDL) has appointed Joan Noguera Tur as its new director. He is replacing Julia Salom and will be in the position for three years. Joan Noguera was born in Gandia in 1968. He is a tenured lecture in the Universitat de València’s Departament de Geografia. In the elections, he gained 23 votes in favor. There was 1 blank vote.
Among his last publications it is worth to outstand Gestión y promoción del desarrollo local: estudios y documentos (Management and promotion of local development: estudies and documents) written with María Dolores Pitarch and Javier Esparcia; Nuevos factores de desarrollo (New factors for development), written with Javier Esparcia; and Agrupaciones locales para el desarrollo rural integrado en España (Local organizations for an integrated rural development in Spain), written with Javier Esparcia and Almudena Buciega. All these publications have been edited at the Univdesitat’s publications service.
IIDL is a research centre focused on the local development field of studies. It is made up of researchers from Universitat Jaume I in Castellón and Universitat de València. They are experts in the different areas included in the IIDL, such as sustainable development, among others.
IIDL has more than 30 researchers in Valencia, who devote to the study and analysis of all the territorial dimensions of development. The new director states in the document presented that ‘they wish to position IIDL as a reference centre nationally and internationally for the research, training and transfer of knowledge in the local development field.’ It has also the goal to promote coordinated researches, both basic and applied. The candidature’s programme is structured in six strategic central themes: training, research, international relations, internal running, scientific output, institutional relations, and territorial projection.
